Prod. 0136 - The Fox and the Hound (XVI) - Seq. 004 Fox meets Vixen (1/3)
Directed by Art Stevens and Rick Rich, assisted by Mark Hester. Layout by Don Griffith, Sylvia Roemer and Glenn Vilppu. This FINAL draft dated 5/4/1981 by secretary Charlene Rogers.
Animation by Ed Gombert, Glen Keane, Chris Buck, Lorna Pomeroy, Mike Cedino, Ollie Johnston and Ron Clements.
Some excellent vivacious animation from Glen, especially on all the scenes of badger, many of them featuring his signature teeth. In contrast, Glen's scenes with Vixey are a bit more subdued, like the Penny animation he did with Ollie on The Rescuers.
Big Mama by Ed Gombert, everyone else by Glen Keane, with a couple of shots of Tod and Vixie by Chris Buck (like in the opening, he seems to have animated under Keane) and Michael Cedeno (first appearance in the film), and a two-shot of Tod and Big Mama by Lorna Pomeroy.
Then Ron Clements and Ollie Johnston come in for the last few scenes when Tod and Vixie notice each other. I expect we'll see more of them in the rest of the sequence, but the scenes where Tod is trying to catch the fish look like the work of Glen Keane.
