We continue yesterday's sequence...
Animated by Hal Ambro, Harvey Toombs, Hal King, Ollie Johnston, Milt Kahl, John Freeman - and Frank Thomas.
Milt shows how it is done. Since he is the main character designer, he gets some juicy scenes like scenes 114 to 116. Great stuff. But the scenes around this, by Frank, are pretty darn good, too, as are the straighter acting scenes by Ollie. The others get mainly action to animate.

Ollie continues to animate the main bulk of the sequence, then Frank takes over when Tramp enters. Milt gets a couple of sections - Trusty awkwardly trying to tell Lady about family matters, and Tramp's celebrated impressions. Also at the end, although Frank is animating most scenes, Ollie gets the close-ups of Trusty... did they feel Ollie had a better handle on the character?
This seems a strange place to end a sequence, but according to that note at the end, we move on to sequence 03.0 next...
Shot 118 is probably my favorite; the quintessential Wilfred Jaxon experience. With all the morphing objects and effects animation, I'm sure he was very fussy and anal about the way Thom animated it.
Milt Kahl's work really does stand out much more than the other animators (in my opinion) -- although I do really like the work of Frank Thomas, too.
well, i hope the next few sequences may or may not contain animation by Bob Carlson or Jack Cambell. Ken O'Brien and George Krisel was mainly the lead animators on the humans and some scenes of the title characters. i think Gary Mooney was assisting for them. Krisel was mainly a recurring animator on Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck shorts so this and the last two shorts that he did were the final projects for him at Disney. he went on to be one of the top animators at Hanna-Barbera. although he's still credited for archived animated footage on the Wonderful World Of Color show.
