Interested in animation since 1975, worked in Holland with Danish animator Børge Ring for four years (incl. on the Oscar-winning 'Anna & Bella'), then moved to Denmark in 1984. In SoCal since 2019.

Very interesting!!
John Lounsbery and Art Stevens were both credited as 'directors' on the film and they share a sequence!! Like in the 'Dumbo' draft when Bill Roberts shared his sequences with John Elliotte.
I like the Milt Kahl animation of the ugly Medusa, but what I dislike about the development of Medusa is the voice...I just don't think it matches right!!
Anyone agreeing with Steven that Geraldine page's voice does not match the character? I must say that I have grown up with these scenes, so in my mind they are JUST right...
Geraldine Page's performance is absolutely wonderful. She really puts a lot into it. I could never imagine anyone else to voice her. Nobody I can think of is that strong or convincing enough for the character.
And Milt Kahl loved her too. I remember hearing that old recording of Milt Kahl that Clay Kaytis' put up on his podcast, and they play this scene to the CalArts kids. And Milt's just going on about all the great juicy bits of dialogue he's animating to. I bet he had a fantastic time working on that character.
If nobody agrees them, well I'm entitled to my own opinion.
There's been many voices I've heard that I thought was miscast!! So maybe the voice of Medusa DOES match!
Oh, I'm back in England after a 7-hour flight - hardly got any sleep on air but I managed to sleep for several hours this morning!!
I recognise some of these names - specifically Tad Stones and Chuck Harvey - from late 80s/early 90s "silver age" TV animation!
Yeah, I remember when 'The Small One' draft was posted and I never even heard of Chuck Harvey, Bill Hajee and I only vaguely remember the name John Pomeroy somewhere! Now, I'm used to it!
When I worked with the late Stan Green, he said that Don Bluth and his gang were working down the hall and he didn't have a clue what they were up to down there. The way Stan spoke I can't believe that Milt would let them go near any Madusa scenes, Milt only trusted Stan with his work. Unless the top floor were quietly sneaking scene to them to add there stuff after Stan was done with them? There was alot of bad feeling about back then!

Well, Milt animated Medusa, while Don Bluth and Dale Baer animated the mice. In this sequence, as in others, it seems that Baer was working under Bluth, but this doesn't appear to have been the case on all sequences.
