Prod. 2074 - Peter Pan (II) - Seq. 02.0 - Wendy Meets Peter
This FINAL draft dated 10/1/52.
The second sequence has a slew of animators working on both Peter and Wendy, with Don Lusk animating one scene. Here we meet Milt Kahl, Eric Larson, Hal Ambro, Harvey Toombs and Don Lusk (Peter Pan and Wendy), Ken O'Brien (Wendy), Marc Davis, Les Clark and effects animator George Rowley (Tinker Bell).

I love that sequence with Peter searching through the chest. The staging is excellent from Milt Kahl. Even though his hands and arms are going everywhere his face is still constantly visible. True mark of a genius.
This sequence is pretty fast and loose compared to the tightened order we saw yesterday, but everyone's different bits are still pretty consecutive; a method to the madness, if you will.
Interesting to see Hal King doing some scenes of Peter. I was wondering if he did some here.
Marc Davis always had a flair for psycho bitch rage takes, but oddly enough, shot 55 goes to Les Clark.
I had been wondering who and what Les Clark animated. Despite his "directing animator" credit he always seems to be second fiddle to another animator. I kind of expected him to be somewhere in the mix of Peter-Wendy-John-Michael animators, and maybe he will be later on (when Tink disappears for large stretches of the film).
Makes sense to see him animating Tinkerbell under/with Marc Davis, following his animation of the title character in Cinderella and Alice - and of course, his animation of the nature sprite thingies in the Nutcracker segment of Fantasia.
For a long time there was a source that mentions Les Clark animated the special effects for Tinker Bell. Well, apart from animating a few long shots - he did a few close-ups which shows he and Davis both supervised Tinkerbell, I guess.
From what I've scene - this sequence is just acting - and leave that to the supervising animators like Milt Kahl or Eric Larson. ;-)
