Prod. 2004 - Fantasia (X)  - Seq. 8 (Interim Orchestra)

373839
Directed by Sam Armstrong, assisted by Lloyd Richardson. Layout by Lee Blair and Elmer Plummer. This draft dated 10/2/40.

When I read this the first time, it was for me a big let-down: "Mickey Mouse to be double-printed into this take, footage to be set later." No credit for the Mickey animation! And this page reads "FINAL!"

"Hal Rees' gang struggling with chimes." I see that Hal Rees became mayor and founding father of the town Cerritos. (I always felt that sounded like a delicious snack...) I quote: "The poultry men were Hal Rees, who had a career recording music for motion pictures before he concentrated on poultry ranching with 15,000 birds, and George Sperou who was also an engineer."

More Deems Taylor monologue. It seems, based on the description "See music room draft on sequences" that they originally were split up, and these Interim Orchestra pages were kept somewhere else...?

I've always thought the narrative introductions was interesting in this segment, because Deems was talking about what believed happened back then and that interested me.

Of course, I knew that dinosaur came from two Greek words meaning "dinos - terrible", and "saurus = lizard"; and the fact that SOME dinosaurs were vegetarians; well the name for is are "herbivores", they eat plants and other living creatures, although herbivores doesn't only go to dinosaurs, it goes to other animals that eat plants.
