Assistant director Ed Hansen, layout Don Griffith and Basil Davidovich, this FINAL draft typed 9/18/67.

Animation by John Lounsbery, John Ewing, Dick Lucas, Milt Kahl, Eric Cleworth and Fred Hellmich.

Again a bunch of reuses, most famously the deer grazing scene from Bambi that I remember someone mentioned as being the most reused scene in Disney animation history. Also a couple of wonderful Shere Kahn reaction shots by Milt, with some great funny elephants by Lounsbery. And who is not impressed by Milt's crouching tiger in sc. 9?

I think Milt's animation in sc. 9 of Shere Khan crouching is absolutely horrible!

Just kidding! It's marvellous, and its astounding how he didn't rely on live-action footage to accomplish it. Lounsbery also does a good job at animating two establishing shots of Shere Khan, considering his ability and reputation of following Milt's designs better than anybody.

A lot of heavy re-using in this sequence, not only of Bambi's mother, but a lot of the elephant marching scenes, too. Lounsbery gets a few solid scenes, I'm particularly fond of sc. 77 of Haiti holding "Bugler's" trunk.

Lucas and Ewing's names are mostly attached to re-uses, scenes where they don't seem to have done any actual drawings. (What happened to "Music Room") Though Ewing does get some new scenes to animate during Bagheera's chat with Col. Hathi, one of which, a pretty simple close-up of Bagheera, he shares with Lucas! (Was it really such a difficult shot that they needed both of them?)

Eric Cleworth and John Lounsbery get most of the new footage, though - Cleworth does the one new scene in the march (the baby elephant), some Bagheera-and-Hathi scenes, and the whole Hathi family quarrel. Lounsbery gets the rescue mission briefing (including the "Bugler" scene mentioned by Steven).

Fred Hellmich gets a couple of new scenes as well - a nice one of Bagheera hollering "HALT!" and some pretty rough drawings of the elephants marching off at the end, picking up from Lounsbery.

A couple of the re-used scenes are not indicated as such - the shot of the "slob elephant" during the march, and Hathi ordering "Company, left face!" are from the earlier sequence, but this isn't mentioned on the draft. There may be other re-uses, but those are the most noticeable.
