Prod. 2179 - Jungle Book (XII) - Seq. 011 - Tiger Fight - Part 1
This FINAL draft typed 9/19/67.
It seems that this sequence was originally two, and I split it up where the second part starts and we hop from scene 67 to 300, just to prolong that delicious agony a day more.
Animated by John Lounsbery, Fred Hellmich, Walt Stanchfield, Eric Larson, Eric Cleworth, Hal King and a scene by John Ewing. A burning tree by Dan MacManus. Actually, I suspect there are a bunch more scenes with fire that MacManus worked on, but he is only credited for the one without character animation.

re: MacManus, I thought the same thing about the falling temple scenes way back in the King Louie sequence.
We get a few more indications that the scene descriptions were written before the scenes were animated, e.g. Sc. 59 refers to "A Vulture (probably Dizzy)", and Sc. 32.2 refers to an "o.s. Baloo", but Baloo is visible in the scene in question. This makes me wonder if some of the animation assignments were changed after the draft was written. (Yeah, I know, "not historical documents", etc.)
A lot of the fight is animated by Fred Hellmich, and isn't indicated as being reused animation. I'll need to look closer to see if it's possible the animation is reused all the same.
Sc. 25, credited to Eric Cleworth, of Mowgli running, looks like a re-use of Sc. 116 in Sequence 007, "Mowgli Runs Away From Baloo". Maybe after the draft was written they realised they had a few feet of animation they could use again.
The only reason I haven't said anything yet is because I don't have a reliable internet connection at this time. I'll share more observations later, I promise!
As to MacManus, it makes sense if you regard the document as "assignment of responsibility." The other scenes had the character animator assigned as responsible for the scenes - the "go-to" person.
