Here's a plug: our new showreel...

Talking of editing to music (below in "Albert Malotte on Music"), here is the intro to A. Film's 2006 Showreel, my latest endeavour.
It's a hodge-podge of nearly 18 years of work - 6 own features, 26 sub-contracted features, over 500 commercials, 190 half-hour tv-shows, specials, shorts etc. in less than 3 minutes. Please give it time to load before you play it, and afterwards, visit our homepage.

Music by the great Danish composer Søren Hyldgaard from the score of A. Film's feature "Help! I'm a Fish" (2000), used with permission.

In Annecy we will have PAL and NTSC versions of our showreel with us - with nearly an hour of browsable materials we produced.

As a footnote: the start is the Nordisk Film logo polar bear. Nordisk Film is the oldest still functioning film studio in the world, celebrating its 100-year anniversary Nov. 6th this year. Nordisk Film is owned by the Danish publishing house Egmont, and as A. Film is 50% owned by Egmont, we consider ourselves a proud member of the Nordisk Film family.

It's a really well constructed reel. The score certainly holds it together and makes it feel like a film. There are some beautiful pieces on it. I love the Blondie & Dagwood spot; the texture makes it feel like Sunday funnies come to life. Good show.

Hi Hans!

Was 'The Ugly Duckling' animated in the same real-time method as 'Terkel In Trouble' was? Looks like there was a lot completed since I saw it last!

(ps I am the guy who was sitting next to you in the bus on the way to the 'Asterix' party in Valhalla Park).

Ah! Warren! No, Ugly was done 'normally'. Excuse my short answer, but I'm in Annecy on a shared computer :-)

Wow, Hans; this really is amazing. It grabbed me right from the start with that great creative angle on the polar bear's feet from beneath the ice. I have to say that the 2D is, without hesitation, my favorite - I just feel like 2D has a soul, you know? There was one big, almond-eyed little girl toward the end of the reel - just loved her. And I have to agree with Michael on the Dagwood piece; incredible. I definitely want to see more!
