Prod. 2006 - Dumbo (IX)

36373839
Seq. 09.0 "Timothy Befriends Dumbo"
Directed by Wilfred Jackson, assistant director Jacques [Roberts?], layout Terrell Stapp.
This 4th draft dated 4/29/41.

From Seq. 07.0 we cut directly to Seq. 09.0. Timothy Mouse by Woolie Reitherman and Milt Neil, Dumbo by Bill Tytla, haystack by Jerome Brown, and some effects by Jim Escalante. Woolie also animated Dumbo in several scenes, including the one where he grasps Timothy's tail - and got the scene to count double: "S & 1."

Interesting how Milt Neil animated Dumbo, from the previous sequence and yet animated Timothy Mouse in the next sequence.

It seems that Wilfred Jackson and Terrell Stapp are all over this, I mean will Bill Roberts eventually come along?

Jackson is running a marathon! I'm surprised no one else has tagged in yet.

Wolfgang draws a very nice Dumbo!

It's surprising to see so much Woolie animation in a Jackson scene, especially for a character he wasn't usually assigned to... in "Pinocchio", this would normally happen in Bill Roberts scenes. This is especially surprising since the usual supervising animator for Dumbo (and the other elephants) is Vladimir Tytla, who *was* usually teamed with Jackson (including providing the live-action reference for Chernobog!).

Also - while Jackson has directed a lot of sequences, none of them include songs (except the Stork's "Happy Birthday") even though he seems to have been known from directing the musical sequences.
