Prod. 2006 - Dumbo (XXIV)
Directed by Bill Roberts and John/Jack Elliotte, assistant director Earl Bench, layout Ernie Nordli.
This 2nd draft dated 3/31/41.
We are nearing the end. Sadly this 2nd draft also has several "holes," though not as bad as the very last sequence. Still, it's better than nothing, right?
Animation by Grant Simmons and Ray Patterson (clowns), Les Clark (Dumbo & Timothy), Walt Kelly (Ringmaster) and Bernie Wolf (Flying Dumbo). Effects by Paul Fitzpatrick, John Reed, George Rowley and Frank Grundeen.

Les Clark draws Timothy an awful lot like Milt Neil. I'll safely assume Les Clark handles most all the unlisted closeups of Dumbo and Tim. I wonder who does that one scene with the gossips? Tytla?
I always figured Bernie Wolf was involved here, but not in the way he has revealed himself.
Note the way Frank Grundeen is implemented here, animating the action scenes that are underfocused considerably. Judge Whitaker was cast the same way on Alice in Wonderland, on the Caterpillar sequence.
And, once again, we have Bill Roberts directing an action climax... although there doesn't seem to be any Woolie Reitherman here. In "Pinocchio", Roberts animated the whale sequences, with a lot of animation by Woolie, who would go on to direct the dragon fight in "Sleeping Beauty" and the car chase from "101 Dalmatians".
While Berny Wolf does animate the flying Dumbo here, I'm assuming he was assigned to shot 61 because of the peanut vendor and just animated Dumbo "while he was there".
At least we see some Bernie Wolf animation with no silhoutte.
