I owe you another thank you, Hans.
You have to wonder what Fred Moore was working on during the production of this cartoon. Frank Thomas and Tytla are really the stars here with Thomson and Williams taking care of Mickey's action scenes.
Are you sure that it's Roy Williams animating here and not Don Williams? I know that's what Alberto thinks, but I think of Roy as a story guy and wonder if he got out of animation even earlier than this film. This might be the first Roy Williams animation that I'm aware of, assuming it is Roy.
Had you asked me some time ago, my answer would have been "Roy Williams? Animating? I thought he was a gag man..."
But after having been through some of these drafts, it says Williams pretty much all over from the early-mid 30s. Never Roy or Don, just Williams... Pity I cannot dig into them now, as I do not have them here.
Thus, since Alberto seems to know what he is doing, I'd say Roy. Anyways, "Williams" did a lot on Lonesome Ghosts, too - I'll have that up soon...
Hi Hans - Which scenes were Les Clark's? Stephen Worth had mentioned he thought the scenes with Mickey in the giant's mouth, dodging the pumpkins was his, but it looks like Williams here. You mention Les in your blog, but I don't see him in the drafts ...
Stephanie, the only scene that is credited to Les Clark is sc. 3, in the very beginning of the film...
i'm not sure but i don't thint that buert gillett is the director of Brave Little Tailor (on imdb website, it is "Bill Roberts" which is credited on this short)
According to I. Klein, Gillett left before The Moth and the Flame was finished, so i think that Gillett is not the director of Brave Little tailor (1938)
Can you answer me please ?
